With over 4,000 members, the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association of San Diego County is one of the largest law enforcement associations in the State of California. Our members live and work in all areas of San Diego County. In addition, many of our deputies call Orange and Imperial Counties home.
Targeted Readership
DSA membership is comprised of active members (sworn law enforcement and detention deputies), reserve members (department volunteers), retired members, and affiliate members (professionals who work with the department, elected officials, county employees, and local business leaders).
Controlled Circulation
Members, advertisers, county and state elected officials, and business affiliates receive the magazine, making the total circulation close to 6,000 each month. The Silver Star is the perfect outlet for showing support for and offering discounts to DSA members and the law enforcement community as a whole. While the Silver Star is read cover to cover by DSA members, they are not the only ones who see the magazine. Displayed on coffee tables, in waiting rooms of local businesses, and in our patrol stations, the Silver Star’s pass-on rate is quite high.
Editorial
The Silver Star serves as a tool for the DSA to communicate with its members. Articles are written by DSA members and affiliates on topics that affect their daily lives. For some retired deputies, the Silver Star is their only contact with the department.

The back cover holds an ad size of 3/4 page square. Additional charge applies to oversized ads.
Guaranteed Position
Charge of 10% above published rate for guaranteed positioning subject to availability. All other ads will be placed by publisher as space allows.
Additional Ads
Advertisers may place additional ads at same size at their contracted per month rate. New ad sizes will be charged the current printed rate for the advertisers frequency.
Service or Business Classified Ads
Service or business classified ads are $30 per month. Members receive a discounted rate. The ad includes up to 10 lines of text (500 characters) and a small graphic.
Real Estate & Help-Wanted Classifieds
Real Estate and Help Wanted classified ads are $30 per month and include a small photo. Limit of 500 characters. Larger ads are available for an additional charge.
Payments
First-time advertisers must submit payment for first run ad with completed insertion order (contract). Payments are due 15 days from invoice date. Payments can be made digitally or via mailed invoice.
Deadlines
All ad material must be received by the 1st of the month prior to publication. (For example, for the July/August issue, materials would need to be received by June 1.) Inquiries and submissions can be sent via email to Silver Star editor Christine Velarde at cvelarde@dsasd.org.
