An important note for Active DSA Members: If you seek to change your mailing address with the DSA, you must first update it with the County. Our database pulls directly from the demographics reports we receive from the County of San Diego each pay period.

CHIROPRACTIC CARE

Chiropractic care is available to all members, their spouses/domestic partners, children (18 years or under), or stepchildren (18 years or under and living in the member’s home). The cost is $10 per payday for active members and $21.67 per payday for retired members; enroll anytime. The plan is administered through Administrative Health Fund (AHF) and is available through payroll deduction. CLEA DISABILITY & LONG TERM CARE

Long-term disability insurance is offered through the California Law Enforcement Association (CLEA). CLEA is a non-political, non-profit benefit association committed to offering the best benefits available to California peace officers. For 20 years, the CLEA Plan has served the California Public Safety insurance market with market-leading benefits and the best premiums.

HARTFORD LIFE INSURANCE
As a member of the DSA, your beneficiary will automatically receive a $10,000 death benefit in the event of your death, under the DSA’s group life insurance program. If you are an active member, you are also eligible for additional, or supplemental, life coverage through The Hartford.

The Hartford Group Life plan provides a member $100,000 of life and another $100,000 accidental, plus $7,500 spouse & $5,000 kids for just $33.65 per payday or $72.89 monthly. Plus, it is the only Group Life plan that stays with you after retirement.

If you enroll in the Hartford Group Life Insurance more than 61 days after the date you first become eligible to do so (after first joining the DSA), no coverage will be available without Evidence of Good Health. For members who are past their 60-day eligibility period you must complete the Personal Health Application.

Newly eligible members within 60 days of joining the DSA should complete the New Member Enrollment Form.

METLIFE LEGAL PLAN

MetLife Legal is a legal services plan that provides legal representation for you, your spouse, and dependents at an affordable cost of $8.25 per pay period and is paid through the convenience of automatic payroll deduction. If you are currently enrolled in the PrePaid legal plan, you may continue those legal benefits or opt to enroll in the MetLife Legal plan. All new enrollees will be enrolled in the MetLife Legal Plan.

Unfortunately, you can only enroll in this plan once a year. If you missed this year’s Open Enrollment you will have to wait until the next open enrollment period to enroll. This takes place in October for active class 1 members and in November for retired members. New DSA members may enroll within 31 days of their membership.

UNITEDHEALTHCARE DENTAL

Members residing in California have the option of selecting a Dental HMO or Dental PPO plan. Members living out-of-state may enroll in the Dental PPO plan. Texas residents have a separate PPO plan schedule.
