The March primary elections came and went for the DSA. Election night, which could more appropriately be referred to as election week, brought plenty of suspense for the DSA and our interests.

The public used to have a pretty firm grip on election results by the end of Election Day. But this year, we waited for several days, as votes continued to be counted, and some important races changed significantly. Overall, the DSA was successful in March and is proud of the work that was accomplished in advocating for candidates and issues on behalf of our members. Steve Vaus and Kristin Gaspar, our endorsed candidates for County Supervisor in Districts 2 and 3, advanced to November’s general election.

Unfortunately, DSA-endorsed Rafael Castellanos did not advance in District 1, as he came in third place by a very small margin. While that’s unfortunate, we’re appreciative of the working relationship we have with Rafa and hope to see him seeking leadership positions in the future. The DSA will re-evaluate our approach in Supervisorial District 1 and create a plan that puts us in the best position to be successful for our members. We have a lot to be proud of, and we will continue to adapt to and overcome the many challenges that come our way.
