DSA members,

Welcome to 2023! I hope you were able to spend some quality time with your loved ones this past holiday season. Many of you helped us kick off the season last month at the DSA’s annual Children’s Christmas Party. It was great to see so many familiar faces and also to welcome some families to their first ever DSA member event. Be sure to check out the photos from the party on page 10.

Looking ahead here at the DSA, the next couple of months will bring about some evolving dynamics. The results of the director election will be announced at the January 12 member meeting and any new directors will be sworn in at the 2023 Board Installation Luncheon on January 26th. Regardless of the election results, the DSA will continue to provide our members with the best benefits possible. We welcome your input.

Contract negotiations are also upon us and 2023 will bring that to the forefront of our attention. Our negotiations committee was hard at work in December, listening to presentations from groups across the Department and holding preliminary meetings with the County to discuss ideas and proposals. We will continue this as we head into the new year. Make sure you are registered for the DSA website at dsasd.org and are receiving our monthly newsletters to hear the latest updates and to be notified of any future tentative agreements, ballots, results, etc.

Many of our yearly events are returning in 2023. Make sure to keep an eye out for events coming up in the first quarter of the year like the Memorial Wake, Annual Wine Tour, the DSA Dinner Dance and a foundation fundraiser.

Myself, the DSA Staff, and Board of Directors are looking forward to another successful year at the DSA. Happy New Year!
